Christmas 2017

We celebrated Sophia’s birthday the day after Christmas.  There were yet more presents, which is right and proper.  I can’t remember what she got for her birthday.  Books I think.  And some nice cake.

Joyce and I made the drive to Garland on Christmas Day and were rewarded with an excellent dinner and then presents.  Kaylee has been learning to program the droid we gave her. Sophia has been learning to fly the Millenium Falcon drone and Vivian and I have been practicing on the guitar every day since Christmas.   These are just the presents we gave them.  Och!  So many presents.

It is now New Years Eve, still early in the day.  The shorties have only recently emerged and raised a clamour.  Jill and Joyce were taking down Christmas decorations but may now have been sidetracked into fixing breakfast.  The weather continues to be sufficiently inclimate so as to not encourage me to venture out.  Other than a movie and lunch with my elder sister and a trip to a music store for a pick, I’ve stayed indoors.  Sloth has stalked me all week.  When cabin fever starts to set in, I remind myself of the 51 weeks of the year when there are outside chores that must be done and I quickly recover.

Speaking of the trip to the music store, KS&V accompanied me.  They hadn’t been out either and we all needed some airing out.  They seemed to enjoy poking around the music store.  On the way home we stopped at  a pet store to look at the critters on offer.  You could get a rat there for ten dollars.  A big bag of dog food was fifty dollars.  I’m glad I don’t have a dog.

This is the last post of the year and I think some reflection is in order.  I am grateful for the good health I and those close to me have enjoyed generally this year.  There has been plenty of work to keep me busy but also time to spend on my hobbies .  I foresee more of the same in the coming year and that suits me just fine.  The country and the world in general seem to be in the same old hand basket but not really that much closer to that final destination.  So, with any luck we can look forward to another good year in 2018.  I wish all a Happy New Year
