Baked Amarillo

At least when it simmers like it did this week the wind doesn’t blow.

It occurs to me that we have a lot of rain in our future.  This area averages about 20 inches a year.  At some point the rainfall will regress to the mean, which means our rainfall could be something like 30 inches for a few years.  Can’t wait.

There were 15 or 20 goats at the chipping site today.  They were eating any green leaves they could find.  I managed to trim and haul two loads from the lane today.  That’s a pretty good lick for me.

Rumor has it Jill and her crew will come back to Amarillo with the Zbindens next week.  We’ll go from lonesome to lively and I hope the weather is cooler than the last couple of weeks.

We have a hummingbird feeder on the porch in front of the bay window in the kitchen.  There at least two hummers that visit it regularly.  In fact that visit it so regularly that they’ve got beer guts.  It’s sad to see a hummingbird bump along the ground because it’s too heavy to gain altitude.

We sequestered one of Chris’s new eatin’ guineas today.  It was flopped over on its side and didn’t seem able to right itself.  There isn’t much we can do for it except make sure it has food and water.  I suspect neither will do it much good but we’ll see.

I’ve been watching the ‘lympics some.  I got a kick out of Gabby Douglas winning the women’s all around gold in gymnastics but I felt a little sorry for the little Russian girl that she beat.  It was very close.

Take a look at the Wall of Death video below.  You might find it interesting.
