DOS attack

Two year old apple tree in bloom

This post is late because there was a general Denial-of-Service (DOS) attack on WordPress admin pages and the hosts had to shut them down. I manage this site and one other on two different hosts and both were out of commission from last Friday until yesterday.

Austin was wierd. No it wasn’t. It was about the same as the many other towns I’ve visited in a seemingly never ending quest for my next dollar. I didn’t sample the night life Austin is famous for, never made it to 6th Street. I had dinner with colleagues at the Blue Moon Cafe, which was supposed to be something special but wasn’t, in my view. Maybe if I’d had the chicken-fried streak instead of the fajita salad I would feel differently. The trade show was not well attended but we did have some conversations that could lead to some filthy lucre changing hands. Time will tell.

Joyce and I continued our work on the garden and got another row ready to go by hauling in some extra dirt from the mound. That leaves one row to go and I’ll be glad to get that finished. Moving the dirt is hard on this old goat.

Our string of nice weekends continued but the hard freezes in between seem timed to nail the blossoms on the fruit trees. Last week it was the plum in the meadow which was blooming beautifully and promised a bountiful harvest. An apple tree had the audacity to dodge last weeks freeze but the freezing temperatures forecasted this week should take care of it.
