Swampy

As of Wednesday afternoon, the ground on SA is almost saturated with rain.  We’ve amassed 2.4 inches in the last two days, a veritable deluge for our part of he world.  Monday was a pleasant day with light wind and lots of sunshine.  I took advantage to water as many things as I could in spite of rain in the forecast.  We’d gotten pretty dry and I felt it my duty to meet myself coming and going over the place watering things so that it would indeed rain and make said watering unnecessary.  If I hadn’t done so, it would not have rained, or at least not near as much, such is the contrariness of the rain gods.  For now, the weeds should be satisfied.

The two mallard drakes have not yet settled their dispute over the hen.  One keeps chasing the other away but he never goes very far.  I guess it will get settled eventually.  I wonder if the hen has any say in the matter.  I’m pretty sure it is the same pair that has been frequenting the pond this time of year for several years.  That means the second drake is an interloper and should be ashamed of himself.

Last week I had the pleasure of spending the night with A&R a couple of nights and ferrying them back and forth to school.  (Shouldn’t it be forth and back?)  Kari flew off to Las Vegas to gamble away her life savings.  Apparently she broke even.  Chris was there at a show and tell so they got to party after hours.

There is more rain possible for this weekend and I’m going with Kari and Abigail to a volleyball tournament in Lubbock this weekend.  I’m told they are expecting an extra 76000 people, give or take, in town for a Garth Brooks concert.  That should make things interesting.

Lots of nice girly pictures on Jill’s FB page.

This time last year we got snow, some that fell on Easter Sunday and melted away by the afternoon Easter egg hunt.   More fell that evening.  Rain is forecast for this weekend so it seems likely we will add to what is already more moisture than we normally have accumulated by this time of year.  Quite a bit more, in fact.  We all know, though, that a dry spell can erupt anytime.
