Crockett defeated Fannin 27-13 in the first round of the city tournament Thursday evening. The Abster had three points on a field goal and a foul shot. She played solid defense and pulled down several rebounds. Next game is Saturday morning. Win that one and they play for the city championship Saturday afternoon.

What better way to end the regular season than with a match-up between Abigail’s undefeated Crockett Pioneers and the likewise undefeated Bears of Austin Middle School. Crockett took a four-point lead into the fourth quarter only to have it melt away like snow in Texas. Austin pulled to within a point with less than two minutes on the clock. It looked like this hard-fought game would come down to one shot. Which team would sink the game winner. Fortunately a girl name Baily (sp?) stepped up for Crockett by drilling one outside the 3-point line (they don’t award 3 points at this level). She added two more buckets before time ran out to give Crockett a 24-18 win. The game was much closer than that score indicates. On to the city tournament.
