Champs
Crockett 7th grade girls silver basketball team
Undefeated city champs and the epitome of female pulchritude.

They aren’t taller/bigger.  They aren’t faster.  No single player stands out.  There aren’t any stars.  But they are the undefeated city champs of 7th grade girls basketball, silver team.  As expected, it came down to Crockett and Austin after Crockett dispatched Fannin on Thursday and blew out De Zavala Saturday morning in the city championship tournament.  Though they beat Austin Wednesday in the match-up of undefeateds, there was no overconfidence.  It had been a close game.

Crockett lead by six points at the half but the Austin girls gave it all they had in the second half.  Both teams wanted to win very badly and Austin even took a one point lead briefly in the fourth quarter.  But as they had done all season long, Crockett pulled away down the stretch for a 32-25 win to take home the city championship trophy.  The Abster was on the floor in the final minutes when Crockett was clinging to a 27-25 lead.  With over a minute left she helped her team hold Austin scoreless while her teammates added a couple of goals which aloud me to start breathing again.
