We got a little more snow Saturday. The leftovers from Christmas only just disappeared Friday and we’re back in the deepfreeze where we’ve been mostly since Christmas with the exception of Thursday and Friday. Saturday was a cold and dreary day but Sunday dawned bright and beautiful. A little more snow fell during the night so that the ground was covered.
Joyce had some fairly significant dental work yesterday but it seems she’s not going to suffer too long from the effects. She took Saturday off but seemed to be feeling OK, mostly. She stayed home Friday evening while I had dinner with the neighbors. Abigail told me she wants to go to Amarillo High because that’s where her friends are going. It will be hard for me to see her as a Sandie but I’ll live with it. She’s playing Kids, Inc. basketball and her first game will be tomorrow. She has the same coach she had a couple of years ago, one of her teammate’s father. I remember him as a pretty good teacher. Abigail says she gets to play wing instead of forward all the time and she’s excited about that. Seems like she told me basketball would be her key to getting into AHS. I need to confirm that that’s what she said and ask her why.
Last Sunday afternoon it was nice enough to get out and mess around with the bow she got for Christmas. She found out that, like a lot of things, there is a little more to it than one would think. Chris is thinking about getting himself a bow and Saturday he sallied forth to see if he could find some straw bales he could use as a backstop for their target practice. He made Rebecca a bow out of PVC pipe because she was feeling left out. She tried her hand with Abigail’s bow but it was too much for her.
Speaking of being too much, I tried out the video game the Wylies gave me for Christmas., Gran Turismo. As you might expect from the title, it is car racing. It’s going to take some practice to keep from crashing and burning, which I did many times the first time I tried it. And that was just on the series of lessons that are supposed to teach one to handle acceleration, braking and cornering. It’s a two-person game so maybe I can find someone to play it with me sometime. Trouble is, it isn’t something that someone with no experience could just pick up. At least I couldn’t. Guess I could find an online gamer but no doubt I’d get my butt handed to me right quick.
Monday I had jury duty and about 10:30 they dismissed us but told us to be back at 1:30. I had spent the weekend fighting a cold and wasn’t any better Monday so I was greatly relieved when we were dismissed for good about 2 o’clock.
