It was a quiet week around SA, seemed to me. Last Thursday’s rain greened up the place a little. There is rain in the forecast and if we were to get another half inch plus the place would green up nicely. We’re still short of moisture but we don’t need a lot to get by.
Abigail had a tournament in Hereford last weekend and I went with Kari to watch the Saturday portion. Her team played well but lost in a squeaker to Amarillo High. The Rebels blew out the Sandies in the first game but got down I think 23 or 24-15 in the second. They came all the way back and even were up by a point. One more point and they could have filed the set away in the win column. It was nip and tuck in the third game. Unfortunately it was Abigail’s team that got nipped at the end. I haven’t spoken to Abigail since the game but I think, judging from the body language on display, she and her mates took the loss hard.
Joyce invested in an inversion table which now resides in the cave. We discovered that we had lost a lot of ground over the years and after researching inversion tables she decided one would be just the thing to stretch us back into shape. After my first couple of sessions I had some soreness in my lower back but that has gone away and now I look forward to a 15-minute nap while getting stretched after working about the place. We’ve started out with just a slight incline and will work up to the full inversion in time. After awhile we should both be able to dunk a basketball.
We’ve all but eliminated the bird depredations on the grapes. There are plenty of grapes so the occasional mockingbird that manages to get inside the netting won’t reduce the crop significantly. The grapes are ripening nicely but we’re still at least a couple of weeks from time to pick.
