Tournament in Lubbock February 1, 2015

At her basketball game Wednesday, Abigail went on a tear, scoring seven baskets. Since her team won 32-10, she accounted for nearly half her team’s points. She wasn’t sure how many shots she took but we estimated she shot 60-70% from the field. She even got her name in the paper for the top scorer city-wide in her eighth-grade girls silver category. Unfortunately, due to a schedule mix up, we arrived late and only saw the last few minutes of the game. We did get to see rise above the scrum under the basket, pull down a rebound and go back up for the dunk. Well, maybe she didn’t dunk it but she did make the bucket. It was exciting. Monday

Monday was sunny and warm with light and variable winds.  I’m pleased to say golfing buddy Gary and I did not waste it on work.  No sir, we hit the links and enjoyed an excellent round of golf.  Your humble blogger scored a couple of birdies to come within one stroke of paring the back nine.  After the round we met our wives for a lunch.  I tell you, it was like a mini winter vacation without the travel. Winter time

Joyce and I have been suffering from upper respiratory failure since getting back from Garland.  While it hasn’t kept us in bed, it has slowed us down considerably.  That’s okay, though, because the weather has been lousy.  Other than a mild afternoon Tuesday, it has been cold and/or windy.  Joyce finally got to the grocery store Thursday where she encountered people complaining about the weather.  And why wouldn’t they.  After the balmy Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday never got above 20 degrees.  Me, I prefer to accept that January and February are unpleasant here on the high plains and any nice days that come along should be appreciated for the anomalies they are.
