Joy(ce) juice

We uncovered the west row of grapes Tuesday and Joyce has been busy ever since making grape juice.  She bought a juicer that she just feeds the bunches of grapes into and it separates the juice from the skins, seeds and stems.  It makes short work of that process and she’s been making popsicles out of the juice.  She added cream to some of the juice and made popsicles out of that delicious concoction, too.

Now that Joyce has gotten all the grapes she wants, including what she’s given to friends, Kari contacted some friends who came over and picked a couple of bags.  I don’t know what they will use them for but they are very tasty just to eat if you don’t mind the seeds.

We spent most of last week through the weekend in Garland visiting the Wylie clan.  The weather was nice and the shorties took me for a couple of walks.  I also had a nice walk with Kathryn when visited I her and John.  We celebrated Vivian’s sixth birthday Friday evening.  Jill took the day off and made a cake.  Earlier in the day we went to a pep rally at the school all three Wylie girls attend.  It wasn’t for a sports team.  It was for various achievements by the various grades and classes.   It was boisterous to say the least.

I’ve done a little mowing since we’ve been back home but not much.  It’s been dry for a month now and the season is advancing to where the grass would go dormant regardless so the areas I’ve mowed have pretty well stayed mowed while the areas I haven’t look like fields of ripe wheat.   At this point I’m not sure I will complete the mowing before next spring.  It might be interesting to see what happens over the winter but I will probably reduce the unmowed areas some.  It may be better to concentrate on weeds to keep them from seeding out.
