Snow on SA

Well, not just on SA, of course. I suspect it’s all over town, if not the county.  Shoot, for all I know the entire Panhandle is blanketed.  Cold, too.  About 10° this morning.  It’s forecast to be in the 60’s next week.  It has been cold since we got back from Garland but I braved the cold Tuesday afternoon to take down the outdoor Christmas decorations.  Yesterday Joyce and I disassembled the indoor decorations and now have everything stowed in the attic until next fall.

When I got home from Garland I immediately put the trickle charger the Wylies gave me to work charging the tractor battery.  And yesterday I used the nifty flexible lantern the Zbindens gave me to light the attic while I stowed the Christmas decorations up there.  So all in all it was a profitable Christmas.

The weather in Garland was pretty nice.  I played golf with John on Tuesday and I couldn’t have asked for better.  Although we did do a little leaf raking at Jill’s, because there was much leaf raking to be done, don’t you know, we were mostly idle, at least I was.  Jill lives in an interesting neighborhood.  When we were out raking leaves a neighbor and his little boy came by, the little boy driving his little vehicle he no doubt got from Santa.  We exchanged greetings with the father who asked us what we called the tool we were using to rake leaves.  He took a picture and made a note of the spelling Jill gave him so he could get one.

We celebrated Sophia’s birthday the day after Christmas.  Joyce and I gave her a camera.  Dave did an excellent job of cooking while we were there.  Joyce and Jill did some, too.  All was good.  The trick with Dave is to eat something at your normal meal time and then eat what he prepares when he gets it ready.  When New Year’s Eve rolled around they did an excellent job with the fondue, of which I ate entirely too much.  I even stayed up till midnight for the first time in years.  I wasn’t really meaning to but there was enough going on around the house to keep a body awake.

Since she and Rebecca have been out of school this week, Abigail and I have spent some time down in the cave watching Bones, which is not a bad way to spend part of a cold afternoon.

Chris has been putting the finishing touches on his shed.  He’s put a lot of stuff in it already and has been cleaning up the construction detritus around it.  It looks nice and should serve him well.  I haven’t seen whether it gave them some free space in their garage but surely it will.
